On August 31 of the previous year, Chairman Steve Mace welcomed Paul Gallen onto the board of the Cronulla Sharks, appointing him as an Appointed Director.
Nearly a year later, Gallen has announced his resignation from this role at the club.
The Sharks legend was part of the Board's Football Committee, which concentrated on aspects such as player recruitment, retention strategies, and operational frameworks.
Additionally, he was involved in Media & Communications, offering football education to fellow directors to enhance understanding of the dynamics between football as a 'club' and as a 'business.'
This initiative aimed to inform future Board decisions with deeper insights into football matters.
In speaking to the media, Gallen noted that the demands of his role exceeded his initial expectations, prompting him to believe he could contribute more effectively in other areas.
"The board wasn't exactly what I thought it'd be," Gallen said.
"Now I know how much work goes into it, especially at a club like the where the directors are really hands-on with management.
"Those guys do such an amazing job, and we're extremely lucky to have them. I'll continue to help with the football side of it."
