"It's a real blow for the Melbourne Storm, mate.
Losing a key player like Nelson Asofa-Solomona right before the big dance is like losing your star halfback in the dying minutes of a tight game," said former rugby league legend Gordon Tallis on NRL 360.
Asofa-Solomona copped a five-week suspension for a high shot early on in the preliminary final against the Sydney Roosters, leaving the Storm without one of their key enforcers for the Grand Final showdown.
The big man tried to argue his case at the judiciary, but luck wasn't on his side this time around.
Tallis, known for his tough-as-nails playing style, didn't hold back in his criticism of the judiciary decision.
"I reckon it's a tough call, mate.
Players these days have to be able to bring the fire without crossing the line, and I reckon Asofa-Solomona was just playing hard footy," he commented in true footy fashion.
"To miss a Grand Final for a hit like that, it's just unbelievable," Tallis added with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
The Storm will now have to find a way to fill the void left by their suspended forward as they prepare for the biggest game of the season.
