Chris Faagutu, formerly a Top 30 member of the Wests Tigers, has joined St Marys Saints in the Sydney Shield competition after being released at the end of the previous season.
His signing comes as he makes a return to rugby league, having been a promising talent in the past.
Faagutu was recognized for his potential when he was named in the Australian Schoolboys squad in 2022, leading to his signing with the Wests Tigers the following year.
However, he struggled to fulfill expectations during his time with the club, playing primarily in the Jersey Flegg Cup and NSW Cup competitions.
Although he was on track to be promoted to the club's Top 30 roster for the current season, he was ultimately released alongside teammate Jordan Miller at the end of 2024.
Nicknamed "compared to Spencer Leniu due to his hard-hitting runs off the back fence," Faagutu will make his debut with the St Marys Saints against the Wentworthville Magpies this Saturday afternoon.
