Wests Tigers have denied any involvement in "knifing" Tim Sheens as coach, stating that Sheens has made the decision to stand down at the end of the season.

The struggling NRL club is expected to see Benji Marshall take over as head coach in 2024.

Tigers chair Lee Hagipantelis revealed that Sheens' manager, Chris Orr, approached the club last week to discuss a possible restructuring, leading to the conversations about Sheens' future.

The decision for Marshall to take on the role was made with Sheens' approval and involvement, according to Hagipantelis.

The transition from Sheens to Marshall is described as amicable and professional.
