From second fiddle to first choice, Trindall triumphs

Trindall's patience pays off

Braydon Trindall, who has been playing as a utility player for the Sharks since his debut in 2020, has finally earned the title of the team's first-choice five-eighth.

Despite playing 47 NRL matches in a back-up role, Trindall has patiently waited his turn behind notable playmakers such as Shaun Johnson, Chad Townsend, Matt Moylan, and Nicho Hynes.

At the start of the 2023 season, Trindall filled in at halfback when Hynes suffered an injury.

However, once Hynes returned in Round 4, Trindall had to resume his role as a patient substitute.

It wasn't until late last month, following a disappointing 44-12 loss to the Warriors in Round 20, that coach Craig Fitzgibbon realized a change was necessary to keep the team's finals hopes alive.

Fitzgibbon decided to pair Trindall with Hynes in the halves, and since then, the 24-year-old has seized the opportunity and hasn't looked back.
