New Zealand Warriors back rower Going has been named as the captain of the New Zealand Kiwis A side for their upcoming match against Mate Ma'a Tonga A at Eden Park.

He is the second Northlander in a week to be chosen to lead a national team, following in the footsteps of James Fisher-Harris, who was named as the captain of the Kiwis for their Pacific Championships campaign.

Going and Fisher-Harris were opponents and teammates in their younger years, with Going attending Kamo High School and Fisher-Harris attending Whangarei Boys' High School.

Now, they have been brought together as brothers in arms in a historic camp that includes 35 other players.

Going will be joined by six of his NZ Warriors teammates in the Kiwis A side, including Rocco Berry in the centres, Ali Leiataua on the left wing, Taine Tuaupiki at standoff, Jacob Laban in the second row, hooker Paul Roache on the bench, and Tanner Stowers-Smith as the 19th man.

This selection is a testament to Going's skill and leadership abilities, and he will be looking to lead his team to victory in their upcoming match.
