Ryan Papenhuyzen's return to rugby league in 2023 was filled with both highs and lows.

After a lengthy absence of 384 days, the star fullback made his comeback with Melbourne Storm's feeder team, the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

In his three appearances with the Falcons, Papenhuyzen showcased his point-scoring abilities, recording 12 goals, one field goal, and one try.

Impressed by his performance in the Queensland Rugby League and during training, the 25-year-old was given the opportunity to return to the NRL.

He started off the bench in a match at AAMI Park and then reclaimed his position as the team's No.

1 in Round 27.

In that game, Papenhuyzen made a thrilling try, four goals, one try-assist, and six tackle-breaks.

However, the excitement was short-lived.

In a Semi-Final clash against the Broncos, Papenhuyzen, once again named on the interchange, suffered a devastating injury.

He fractured his right ankle and had to be taken off the field on a medicab.

This rollercoaster season has truly tested Papenhuyzen's resilience and determination.

From his highly anticipated return to the field to his unfortunate injury, he has experienced the highs and lows of rugby league.

Despite the setbacks, fans can expect to see this talented player bounce back stronger than ever in the future.
