Former Canberra Raiders and New Zealand Warriors outside back, Matthew Allwood, has been eliminated from the reality television show Alone Australia after spending 16 days in the wild.

Allwood was one of ten contestants in the third season of the show, which was filmed in Tasmania's West Coast Ranges.

Despite his best efforts, Allwood could not stay in the competition as long as he had hoped, citing missing his family - wife Ainsley, three-year-old Remy, and one-year-old Lani - as the primary reason for his departure.

His wife, Ainsley, showed her support for him on Facebook, saying "SO BLOODY PROUD OF YOU MATTY!! Anyone sitting at home on their couch watching, thinking they could do better, go on.

APPLY!! Like to see you not eat for 10 days." Allwood's emotional struggle with being away from his family while enduring the challenges of surviving in the wilderness was a significant theme throughout his time on the show.

Allwood's background as a professional rugby league player brought a unique perspective to his experience on Alone Australia.

As a former athlete accustomed to the physical demands of professional sports, Allwood faced a different type of challenge in the wilderness, where survival skills were paramount.

His ability to adapt and persevere in the face of adversity was tested as he navigated the rugged terrain and harsh conditions of the Tasmanian wilderness.

Despite his early exit from the show, Allwood's determination and resilience were evident in his efforts to survive on his own.

His time on Alone Australia not only showcased his survival skills but also provided a glimpse into the mental and emotional toll of being separated from loved ones.

Allwood's journey on the reality show served as a reminder of the sacrifices and challenges that come with pursuing one's passions and pushing oneself to the limit in pursuit of a goal.
