Former NRL speedster Matt Ikuvalu seeks new home

Former NRL outside back, Matt Ikuvalu, who has previously donned the jerseys of the Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks, is now a free agent in the rugby league market.

The talented player is looking for a new team and could soon be back in the NRL arena, ready to tackle new challenges.

Reports from zerotackle.com reveal that Ikuvalu, currently plying his trade with the Catalans Dragons in the Super League, will not be offered a contract extension and will be leaving at the end of the 2024 season, much like former Origin forward Jarrod Wallace.

Having last graced the NRL field in 2023, the experienced forward made a move overseas in the middle of the last season from Cronulla Sharks.

Since then, he has showcased his skills in 33 matches for the French club, finding the try line on ten occasions.

Notably, he played a significant role in the 2023 Super League Grand Final against the Wigan Warriors.

As Ikuvalu bids farewell to the Dragons, the team is welcoming the likes of Tevita Pangai Junior, Elliott Whitehead, Nick Cotric, and Luke Keary next season.

This changing of the guard necessitates freeing up spots to accommodate the influx of international quota players.

It's a game of roster chess, and Ikuvalu is now seeking a new team to continue his rugby league journey.
