Retiring veteran Kieran Foran celebrated a heartwarming family moment following Gold Coast's impressive comeback win over the Tigers, marking a fitting end to his NRL career on Saturday. The 36-28 victory not only highlighted Foran's farewell but also dealt a fresh setback to the Knights, exacerbating their struggle to avoid the wooden spoon as they will be without a key forward for the upcoming clash against Parramatta.

Gold Coast's thrilling comeback also signified the last game in charge for veteran coach Des Hasler, who will be succeeded by Josh Hannay next season. However, the spotlight shone brightly on Foran after the final whistle, as teammates and the wider rugby league community celebrated a fairytale conclusion for the beloved Kiwi playmaker.

Foran and Hasler have shared a strong bond since the coach awarded him his NRL debut at Manly back in 2009. The duo celebrated a premiership win together two years later, making it fitting that they both exited the scene in style, with the Titans overcoming a 28-12 halftime deficit to secure an eight-point victory that elevates them off the league's bottom.

The 35-year-old Foran was given an emotional send-off as he was carried off the ground amid thunderous applause from the home crowd. His teammates even honored him with a haka, celebrating a remarkable 318-game NRL career that has spanned 17 seasons.

Yet, it was the sight of Foran sharing the moment with his partner and children that brought an extra layer of warmth to the occasion. Foran expressed his happiness at concluding his distinguished career with a victory, despite acknowledging it has been a 'disappointing season' for the Titans. He praised his teammates for their resilience after a poor first half, enabling him to exit on a high note.

"Mate, I shouldn't be surprised because we have done a few of those this season, gee it was quiet at half time," Foran remarked about the comeback. "But I could just sense the boys weren't going to give up, they kept talking about digging in the second half... what a bunch of blokes."

Reflecting on his career and the season, Foran said, "The body needs a break, I have just about juiced the tank for all it's got in it. I have really enjoyed the fight this year. It's been a disappointing season in terms of results, but there's been some good growth."
