Folau confirms professional career is over

Israel Folau drawing plenty of interest from NRL clubs

Israel Folau played 106 rugby league games for Melbourne Storm, Brisbane Broncos and Catalans Dragons, alongside five Queensland State of Origin appearances and eight Australia Tests.

His rugby union career included 96 Waratahs games, 20 in Japan, 73 Australia Tests and two for Tonga.

He also played 13 AFL games for GWS Giants.

Rugby Australia ended his contract in 2019.

Now 37, Folau says his professional career is finished after most recently playing top-level sport in Japanese rugby union.

"Yeah, I'm done now. I'm not looking for any other opportunity in terms of playing at that level," he confirmed to CODE Sports.

"I look across my time playing the game, I was very blessed to play at the highest level for even that long."

Folau has joined a team run by Eddy Pettybourne in the Gold Coast Nines competition and is open to playing local football next year.
