Fogarty Explains Titans Exit Surprise

Jamal Fogarty, the halfback for the Canberra Raiders, has disclosed surprising details about his departure from the Gold Coast Titans. Notably, he stated that the Titans never directly informed him of his release from the club.

Fogarty joined the Titans at the end of 2021, but he has since become a pivotal player for the Canberra Raiders, contributing significantly to the team's success, including clinching the minor premiership this year.

In contrast, the Titans' performance has plummeted; they are now facing a disappointing season, having secured the infamous wooden spoon in 2025.

This decision to part ways with Fogarty was a considerable gamble for the Titans' coach at the time, Justin Holbrook, as he opted to restructure the team's lineup by focusing on younger talents instead of retaining Fogarty's experience.

Midway through 2023, Holbrook was dismissed due to the lack of success, and his successor, Des Hasler, now appears to be headed down a similar path.

Reflecting on his departure, Fogarty shared his frustration in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, revealing that he learned about his exit from the Titans through the radio rather than directly from the club. "To be honest, I was pissed off at the process, how it all came about," he expressed, hinting at lingering resentment as he prepares for an upcoming match against the Broncos.
