Sharpe pain: Fletcher opens up on horror injury as Vegas looms

Fletcher Sharpe has shared details about his difficult experience in a Perth hospital, where he received urgent care for a lacerated kidney and damaged spleen. Despite this serious injury, he expressed confidence in being ready for the Knights' 2026 season opener in Las Vegas.

The 21-year-old resumed full training on Tuesday, marking his first complete session since the horrific injury occurred during his team's Round 16 victory over the Dolphins in Perth.

In the match, Sharpe suffered a heavy tackle that forced him to leave the field for a head injury assessment (HIA). By the end of the night, he found himself in the hospital as doctors uncovered injuries that are typically associated with car accidents.

Since his release from the hospital, Sharpe has faced a challenging recovery process, including returning to Newcastle for further rehabilitation.
