In Round 15 of the Senior Pathways, the Jersey Flegg Cup featured a thrilling high-scoring match between the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs.
The Bulldogs were overtaken by the Rabbitohs in a surprising 36-22 defeat at Accor Stadium, which hindered Canterbury's finals hopes.
The Rabbitohs had to overcome early deficits, trailing 8-nil and later 12-6 at halftime.
They exploded in the second half, scoring five unanswered tries and reversing their previous loss to the Bulldogs, where they had been defeated 62-18 in Round Seven.
Despite a late unconverted try by centre Enari Tuala in the 71st minute to put some moments of hope for the Bulldogs, and a converted second try by Gabriel near full-time, the match ended at 36-22.
The defeat left the Bulldogs in seventh place on the ladder, trailing three points behind the top five contenders, the Panthers and Jets, particularly concerning given they were without many NRL experienced players.
Additionally, the Kaiviti Silktails faced a loss against Cronulla, and the Ron Massey Cup team struggled in their return after a two-week hiatus without securing a win.
The round highlighted some tough competition and shifting standings among the teams in the league.
