Shane Flanagan has described Ben Hunt's subtle jab as "a little bit frustrating", with the Red V coach shedding light on his halfback's contract situation.

Hunt recently made a comment suggesting that Clint Gutherson could potentially be his new halves partner at the Dragons, should the team secure their top target.

This remark did not sit well with Flanagan, as his son Kyle currently plays as the five-eighth alongside Hunt.

In an interview with the SMH, Flanagan expressed his irritation at the statement, hinting that it may have been a veiled insult towards Kyle's position in the team.

Flanagan mused, "Maybe Kyle moves to halfback and he was insinuating that he wouldn't be here.

I'm not quite sure which way he was going with that one.

I'll have a chat with Ben about it."

The Rugby League world is abuzz with speculation and drama, as the Red V navigates through the complexities of player contracts and team dynamics.

Watch this space for more twists and turns in this sporting saga.

Grit, determination, and a sense of camaraderie will surely see the Dragons through this tumultuous time.
