Reece Walsh, the Brisbane Broncos star, is one of the most polarizing figures in NRL, often facing intense scrutiny.

As he plays under a significant spotlight, the pressure can lead to moments of controversy, such as during the recent match against the Canberra Raiders. Walsh was seen making an inappropriate gesture toward opposing fans as he headed to the sin bin.

As a result of his actions, he was charged with contrary conduct by the match review committee but was only fined.

In light of this incident, NRL legend Brad Fittler has voiced his support for Walsh, suggesting that the league must prioritize the welfare of its players.

"They've got to protect players better," he stated on Nine's Freddy and The Eighth.

"At any stage there, emotions get high, and they have to protect the players."
