Sione Finau, the newest recruit for the Canberra Raiders, is determined to make significant strides in 2026 as he aims to secure his spot in the first grade.
Despite facing tough competition to break into the Raiders' deep backline, Finau feels that his chances are better now than they were during his time at the St George Illawarra Dragons.
"I was at that point, when I was at the Dragons, I felt like I needed some change," Finau confessed.
"I felt like I needed more game time."
When the opportunity to join the Raiders arose, he was quick to take advantage of it, believing it would provide him with more chances to play.
"When the opportunity opened up there [at the Raiders], I thought I might get more game time," he explained.
Finau's decision was also influenced by the Raiders' exceptional performance in 2025, where they finished first, showcasing resilience and teamwork.
