English and Dolphins fans were shaken on Friday night when star center Herbie Farnworth suffered a hamstring injury during a match against the Warriors.
Despite this setback, coach Kristian Woolf expressed optimism that Farnworth might return before the end of the season.
Over the past two years, Farnworth has been regarded as one of the best centers in the competition and a key contributor to the Dolphins' success in 2025.
Farnworth was also preparing to represent England in the upcoming Ashes series against the Kangaroos.
However, his injury casts doubt on his participation after he went down clutching his hamstring during the Dolphins' dramatic 20-18 victory in New Zealand.
He started strong in the match, scoring first and making a significant line break before collapsing unexpectedly.
This prompted concern from fans and commentators alike.
Fox Sports commentator Warren Smith remarked, "This is potentially devastating for not just this game but the Dolphins' season.
He's gone.
The old sniper got him in fresh air.
He ran past Healey like he wasn't thereā¦" illustrating the severity of the situation.
While initial assessments suggested Farnworth might be sidelined for four to six weeks, Woolf confirmed that scans were scheduled back in Brisbane to evaluate the extent of the injury.
He stated, "To lose Herbie early like we did...obviously that's a big hit for us.
To win the way we did, just that second-half, I thought we were brave."
As for the injury, he added, "It's obviously a hamstring...how bad it is we don't quite know yet.
I would have thought at least four or six weeks."
Additionally, 'NRL Physio' Brien Seeney noted that the injury might not be as serious as it appeared, suggesting Farnworth could miss anywhere from four to eight weeks.
The latter scenario would mean he likely wouldn't return unless the Dolphins made a late push for the finals, but there's hope he could be back before the end of the regular season.
