Aaron Gorrell, a former hooker for the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Brisbane Broncos, has been appointed head coach for the 2026 season.
Gorrell, who last played in the NRL in 2009, will take charge of the St George Illawarra Dragons' Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup team next season, marking his return to the club.
Since retiring, he has coached the NSW Country side and the Riverina Bulls, in addition to holding positions with several teams including the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, Cooma Stallions, Wagga Brothers, and Gundagai Tigers, where he secured the Ground 9 title in 2025.
"It's exciting to be back; it's obviously a club I love. It's a bit of a full circle for me," Gorrell expressed.
"I've been lucky enough to be at a few different clubs in the country, but I'm really excited to be back at the Dragons and trying to bring some juniors through.
"It would mean the world to me to play a little part in their journey and for them to push through to the NRL."
Over the course of his playing career, Gorrell participated in 60 NRL matches across six seasons, with 48 games played for the Red V from 2002 to 2006, during which he scored seven tries and achieved 94 goals.
