Latrell Mitchell cops Michael Ennis' truth bomb after 'selfish' uproar surrounding NRL star

The Rabbitohs fullback has been facing mounting criticism over his ill-discipline, with NRL legend Michael Ennis delivering a reality check to Latrell Mitchell.

Ennis believes Mitchell owes a debt to his South Sydney teammates after receiving a three-game ban for an elbow incident involving Warriors halfback Shaun Johnson.

Mitchell was also put on report for a lifting tackle in Saturday's match and has accepted the suspension for dangerous contact on Johnson.

Mitchell's recent acts of ill-discipline have not gone unnoticed, sparking criticism from both commentators and fans.

The timing couldn't be worse for the Rabbitohs, who currently languish at the bottom of the ladder and have tough matches against Cronulla, Melbourne, and Penrith on the horizon.

There are even reports suggesting that coach Jason Demetriou's job could be on the line if the Rabbitohs fail to perform against Cronulla.

Demetriou didn't mince words when describing Mitchell's behavior as "stupid" and now faces a challenging period without his star player.

Ennis, a former Sharks premiership winner, believes that Mitchell needs to reflect on his actions and show his teammates that he values the club by setting the example in training and on the field.

Ennis emphasized the importance of Mitchell taking responsibility for his actions and staying focused on turning things around for the team.

While acknowledging that mistakes happen on the field, Ennis urged Mitchell to use this time to reflect and improve, without taking an extended break in his hometown of Taree as he has done in the past.

"You don't always get it right on the footy field, but where Latrell is at the moment, he needs to go away over these next three weeks," Ennis commented on Fox League.
