Isabel Rowe scored 26 points for England against Wales, matching the highest international tally by an England women's player.
The 19-year-old five-eighth kicked nine conversions and scored twice in England's 70-6 World Cup opening win at HBF Park on Saturday.
Rowe ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament at 15 and spent her 16th birthday in a knee brace in the stands during the previous World Cup.
World No.3 England scored 13 tries to one against ninth-ranked Wales, who briefly drew level when Paige Travis crossed in the 10th minute.
England led 40-6 at halftime after scoring seven first-half tries, including two by Connie Boyd.
Boyd and Anna Davies each completed hat-tricks, while winger Amelia Brown ran the length of the field after collecting a bouncing ball in her own in-goal area to score in the 57th minute.
England captain Jodie Cunningham said of Brown, "She's got some pace."
"I'm glad we've got Amelia in the side. She does that for fun in the Super League, so great to see her doing that in an England shirt."
Wales captain Bethan Dainton told the Seven Network, "Frustrating with the scoreline, I don't think it reflected the game."
"But lapses of concentration let England through."
Australia began their campaign with a 40-0 win over Fetu Samoa and will face England in Perth next Saturday.
