Emergency Medical Incident on Flight

‘It scared me’: Chad Townsend collapses on plane to Vegas

Las Vegas: Chad Townsend experienced a collapse during his flight to Las Vegas, regaining consciousness with an oxygen mask in place before paramedics assisted him off the aircraft.

He expressed gratitude for the presence of a doctor onboard, as well as a nurse, who happened to be the wife of Newcastle legend Kurt Gidley.

"I was sitting on my seat on the flight, I started to feel nauseous - I was getting hot and cold flushes - then I started sweating to the point my chest was completely wet," Townsend recounted on Wednesday in Las Vegas.

"I went to get up and go to the toilet and then fainted. The next minute, I had an oxygen mask attached to my mouth and was getting my blood pressure taken. My blood pressure was really high."

This unexpected incident left Townsend shaken, highlighting the importance of having trained professionals available in emergencies during flights.

Despite the alarming experience, he remained thankful for the swift response and care he received from fellow passengers.

Townsend's account serves as a reminder of how quickly health issues can arise and the critical role that bystanders can play in such situations.

He is recovering from the incident and reflects on the experience with a mixture of fear and appreciation.
