Roosters captain James Tedesco has lauded the performance of his front-row players after they faced a stint in the sin bin during an explosive game against the Dolphins. The match significantly reduced both teams to 11 players.
Despite not wanting to see his teammates penalized, Tedesco believes in the value of the aggression brought by Spencer Leniu and the other front-rowers. He noted that their intimidating presence is what instills fear in opposing teams.
The encounter on Saturday was crucial for Trent Robinson's squad as they battled to maintain their finals aspirations, ultimately achieving a decisive 64-12 victory at Suncorp Stadium.
While their offensive play was impeccable, the front-row players engaged in intense action almost immediately, with Leniu quickly stepping in to defend halfback Sam Walker after he was pushed by Aublix Tawha.
This set a combative tone, and soon after a try was scored, Leniu confronted Tawha, leading to a massive brawl involving players from both sides.
Leniu, Tawha, Naufahu Whyte, and Francis Molo were penalized with time in the sin bin, resulting in multiple fines, including two for Leniu, totaling $3600.
Although sidelined for a brief period, Leniu maintained his momentum and scored a powerful try just before halftime, while Whyte continued to shine with 178 meters gained, the highest of any forward in that match.
