The Parramatta Eels have secured a key young talent as they strategize for the future. The club has confirmed that five-eighth Lorenzo Talataina will remain with them, having signed a long-term contract that extends until at least the conclusion of the 2028 NRL season. This move keeps him away from the two new expansion teams in the league.

Talataina showcased his skills in the Under-19s SG Ball Cup, where he was integral to a potent pairing with Lincoln Fletcher. His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Year title. For the next two years, he will operate under a development contract before advancing to the Top 30 roster in 2028.

This season, Talataina has significantly elevated his game, making his NSW Cup debut in Round 22 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He has played an additional four reserve-grade matches since then, during which he has scored a try, accumulated 344 running metres, and demonstrated his prowess as a consistent attacking threat.

"It's incredibly exciting to retain homegrown talent like Lorenzo, who has come through the Eels pathways system," remarked Eels GM of Football Mark O'Neill. "Lorenzo has match-winning capabilities with his speed and skill, and has worked hard on his game."
