Eels reel in Ryley for a hook, line, and sinker

The Parramatta Eels have solidified their long-term plans for the hooking position by promoting Ryley Smith to their Top 30 roster for 2026, with an extension through to the end of 2027.

Currently on a development deal for 2026, Smith has been instrumental for Parramatta this season, taking over the dummy half role and surpassing fellow players Brendan Hands and Joey Lussick in the hierarchy.

Starting off 2025 on a train-and-trial deal, Smith's performance has led to increased expectations regarding his future.

The Eels also recently secured the signature of Tallyn da Silva from the Wests Tigers, adding further depth to their lineup.

Smith made his debut in Round 1 this year and has significantly progressed in his gameplay, ultimately being recognized as an NRL-caliber dummy half.

With these developments, the future looks promising for both Smith and the Eels.
