Parramatta Eels officials have found themselves in hot water over their handling of the coaching debacle, with one potential contender ruled out at the last minute.
The decision to give Brad Arthur the boot without a plan for a replacement in place has been labeled a "disaster" by critics.
Fox League's Paul Crawley didn't hold back in his criticism on NRL 360, likening the Eels' coaching search to a game of musical chairs gone wrong.
"Brad Arthur was given a lifeline and told to see out the season.
If they wanted to make a change, they should have done it earlier," Crawley remarked.
"Why pull the trigger on Brad Arthur without having a backup plan in place? It's like trying to tackle a tough opponent without a game plan.
This decision has completely derailed their season," he added.
The Eels' coaching turmoil has left fans scratching their heads, with many questioning the team's strategy moving forward.
It's a tough blow for a club with a rich history in Rugby League, but only time will tell if they can bounce back from this setback.
