Eddie Jones has unveiled an ambitious plan that goes beyond his rugby union background-he aspires to coach Japan's inaugural NRL franchise.
This seasoned coach aims to leave a significant impact on both codes of rugby.
In a conversation with CODE Sports before Japan's Test match against the Wallabies in Osaka, Jones shared insights from his career and various topics of interest.
At 66, his enthusiasm remains unwavering, and intriguingly, his most significant achievement could emerge from a discipline outside of his established expertise.
"I'd love to start a Japan rugby league team, that'd be my dream," Jones expressed.
He elaborated on his vision of what a Japanese NRL team might entail.
"It'd be tough, but I reckon you could get enough good players here and maybe get some good foreign players that you could come up with a team that could be competitive."
"And imagine adding Japan to the rugby league landscape."
"I think it's still the third or fourth biggest economy in the world."
"How much fun would that be? It would be insane. It would be incredible."
