Eagles' flight grounded by injuries, retirement looms

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Manly Sea Eagles forward Josh Aloiai may face early retirement due to persistent injury issues, primarily a recurring shoulder injury.

Reports from zerotackle.com indicate that Aloiai, a five-time international for Samoa, has struggled with this shoulder injury throughout the season, limiting him to just five matches.

This predicament follows his agreement to a two-year contract extension, worth around $1 million, to stay with the club into 2024.

Aloiai was recently forced off the field during Round 13 against the Brisbane Broncos and has not performed at his best in 2025, spending significant time sidelined.

According to News Corp, there are mounting concerns regarding Aloiai's future in the game, with the possibility of him being compelled to retire early.

The club is actively seeking medical opinions to assess the potential for healing and rehabilitation of his shoulder.
