The St George Illawarra Dragons are actively working to reshape their club culture, aiming to rejuvenate the franchise and push for a return to the finals after nearly a decade.

While recently retired prop Ben Murdoch-Masila won't contribute on the field post this season, he is set to play a vital behind-the-scenes role in restoring the Red V to its former prominence.

The 34-year-old will remain at Kogarah as a Cultural Strategy and Inclusion Officer, focusing on enhancing the club's educational initiatives surrounding culture and diversity.

The former Tonga international is tasked with implementing the 'Dragons Cultural Program,' which will be incorporated into the club's Education and Wellbeing framework.

In this position, he will provide educational sessions and resources for players, coaches, and staff to foster greater cultural understanding and respectful interactions.

Additionally, Murdoch-Masila will oversee cultural awareness days and celebrations that showcase the traditions of Pacific Islander, Tongan, Samoan, Māori, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

As a trusted mentor for Dragons players, he will also work on maintaining relationships with local community groups and leaders.
