In the aftermath of the Dragons' 20-12 defeat to the New Zealand Warriors, Damien Cook and Dean Young took center stage during the post-match press conference, expressing their frustrations about the officiating.
Several contentious calls prompted discussions regarding the accuracy of the referee's decisions throughout the match.
One pivotal moment occurred in the 44th minute when a forward pass led to a try by Dallin Watene-Zelezniak in the right corner.
Chanel Harris-Tevita skillfully converted from the sideline, propelling the Warriors to a 16-12 lead and halting any momentum the Dragons had built in the first half.
In a critical sequence where play continued, Setu Tu managed to score despite being tackled, but the try was reviewed by the bunker and ultimately denied, leaving the Dragons at a disadvantage despite having superior numbers.
Additionally, a penalty for an escort by Valentine Holmes at the 69th minute allowed the Warriors to increase their lead to 18-12.
"We're not getting rewarded for the effort we are putting in. The Warriors got a lot of stuff out of there; we aren't getting the same six agains. We come out of halftime, they throw a forward pass, we are chasing points straight away," remarked Damien Cook.
"It's not right. I feel sorry for the fans who have to watch that, but it's happening too many times to us. I don't know if it's 'cause we are sitting down the bottom and it's an easy one to throw off because the Warriors win today."
