Knock-On Effect NSW Cup: Dragons down Eels to end year on high

The Dragons have finished their Knock-On Effect NSW Cup season on a high note, defeating the Eels with a score of 38-12 at CommBank Stadium on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

An Ashton Ward double played a crucial role in securing the victory for Ben Woolf's men.

Despite finishing the season with 14 wins and 10 losses, the Dragons missed out on a spot in the finals after the Panthers triumphed over the Rabbitohs in a crucial match.

Nonetheless, the Dragons showcased their potential with a youthful display on the field, as four of their seven tries were scored by players who are still eligible to play in the Jersey Flegg competition next season.

The 20-year-old half, who recently made the leap up to the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup level after a standout performance in the Jersey Flegg competition, scored two tries in as many games.

Declan Purcell also made his mark on the match, capitalizing on a quick play-the-ball from Hamish Stewart to score a try from dummy-half.

Jonah Glover added the extras with a successful conversion, extending the Dragons' lead to double digits early in the game.

The victory was a fitting end to the season for the Dragons, who showed grit and determination on the field.
