St George Illawarra Dragons assistant coach Ryan Carr is gaining attention as a prime candidate for a head coaching position.

Previously linked with the Wests Tigers, Carr is contracted with the Dragons until the end of the 2025 NRL season after joining in 2022 under Anthony Griffin.

His current tenure is under Shane Flanagan.

Carr's coaching background includes stints as an assistant at the Cronulla Sharks and South Sydney Rabbitohs, as well as a role as a former NSW Cup coach for the Parramatta Eels.

He also had a brief head coaching experience with the Featherstone Rovers in England, where he managed three wins from 12 matches as interim head coach of the Dragons in 2023.

Now searching for a new opportunity, Carr has emerged as the leading candidate for the head coaching role at Castleford Tigers, which would mark his transition to the Super League competition.
