Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf believes co-captain Isaiya Katoa can outshine the attention surrounding Sam Walker's return in Friday night's grand final qualifier at Suncorp Stadium.
Katoa, 22, has supplied 18 try assists in 21 games, compared with Walker's 21.
The Dolphins halfback has also contributed to 31 linebreaks, ranking second in the NRL behind Cody Walker. Sam Walker has nine.
Woolf expects the Roosters halfback to play after a four-week ankle injury absence, but said Katoa's composure makes him invaluable.
"I certainly wouldn't swap Isaiya for anyone," Woolf said.
"I love what he brings as a person and how he carries himself and he plays with that same calmness and confidence that he has got in himself."
Katoa helped overturn an 8-16 deficit against the Warriors in his first finals appearance, with Woolf praising his kicking under pressure during the 26-16 victory.
"It really impressed me how he turned the game in the second half with kicking. It was a 10 out of 10 (performance) and allowed us to put the Warriors under pressure."
Retired Dolphins forwards Jesse and Kenny Bromwich and Mark Nicholls addressed the squad before Thursday's captain's run.
Woolf said the founding players had "set a tone for what we want the culture to be and what sort of men we want representing the club".
Morgan Knowles, who won three Super League titles and a Challenge Cup under Woolf at St Helens, said the coach prefers minimal messaging in finals.
The Dolphins have won eight straight since a 66-0 loss to Cronulla in round 19, conceding 16.75 points per match. They defeated the Roosters 26-12 in round 26.
