One of the nine players expected to leave The Dolphins after they missed out on the 2025 NRL Finals is the promising young talent Aublix Tawha, who is poised to join one of their biggest rivals in Queensland.
It has already been confirmed that several players, including Harrison Graham (Knights), Josh Kerr (Dragons), Kenneath Bromwich (retired), Mark Nicholls (retired), Michael Waqa (Broncos), and Peter Hola (Knights), will depart the team by the close of the 2025 season. Recently, reports have also indicated that three additional players will join this exodus.
Among these departing players are Aublix Tawha, Ryan Jackson, and Sean O'Sullivan, who is set to join the Bulldogs.
Tawha has made nine appearances for The Dolphins since his debut in Round 16 earlier this year and is reportedly close to signing with the Brisbane Broncos. The club has reportedly engaged in preliminary discussions with him, according to News Corp.
Although Tawha has yet to make a final decision about his future, it appears he is inclined towards making the switch to Brisbane, even as his current club offers him a contract extension.
Reflecting on his journey, Tawha shared, "I was playing in a little town called Yass down in New South Wales, I played half the season there and [Te'o] saw some of my highlights and brought me up and gave me an opportunity at Redcliffe Dolphins," as reported by NRL.com.
He added, "This is my first season with NRL, I was just playing Queensland Cup last year (with Redcliffe Dolphins)."
