In a thrilling Pre-season Challenge match, the Wests Tigers emerged victorious with an 18-16 win over the Warriors in Christchurch.
However, the victory was not without its casualties, with Declan Casey suffering a knock-out blow midway through the first half.
Despite being carried off the field, Casey's spirits are high as he recovers from the high tackle delivered by Warriors forward Zyon Maiu'u.
The 24-year-old centre, making his debut for the Tigers, was immediately rushed to the hospital for scans, but his perseverance was evident as he managed to watch the remainder of the match from the sidelines.
Remarkably, Casey was the lone soldier in the 28-man squad to sustain a serious injury, highlighting his unfortunate luck.
On a more positive note, Solomona Faataape and Josh Feledy, both new recruits for the Tigers, encountered minor setbacks but nothing that would keep them off the field for too long.
As the Tigers celebrate their hard-fought victory, they will undoubtedly be hoping for a speedy recovery for their center, Declan Casey, as they continue their pursuit of success in the upcoming season.
