Currently, the Broncos are navigating a tough spot, having been relegated from the Super League last year and now positioned 10th in the Championship. Nevertheless, Lockyer is preparing to submit a formal proposal for the team's re-entry into the Super League this Friday.
This move could pave the way for a new head coach, with Demetriou likely to be the leading candidate despite his recent challenges in the NRL. His tenure with the Rabbitohs ended last year, but this opportunity may grant him a fresh platform to demonstrate his coaching abilities.
Lockyer indicated his optimism about the sale, stating that he expects "the sale to complete in the coming weeks."
