London calling: Demetriou, NRL stars to head up Lockyer's UK Broncos
The PNG Kumuls coach and former Rabbitohs leader, Jason Demetriou, is poised to lead a revamped London Broncos squad filled with NRL talent, under the ownership of Darren Lockyer.
The London Broncos have officially submitted an application to return to the Super League for the upcoming season, now backed by a new ownership group that includes Lockyer, successful entrepreneur Grant Wechsel, and the long-time Leeds executive, Gary Hetherington.
The club revealed that Demetriou, who held the coaching position at South Sydney from 2022 to 2024, has committed to a three-year contract, anticipating London's reintegration into the Super League.
This fresh ownership will benefit from the support of London's devoted and experienced staff, along with an array of seasoned club administrators and consultants who have been enlisted to guide the Broncos' financial and footballing journey.
Amid speculation that Tom Trbojevic might leave Manly when his contract ends in 2026 and is considering a shift to the Super League, Lockyer confirmed that the prominent fullback could indeed be a target for the new-look Broncos.
