Daly Cherry-Evans has shared the timeline of his decision to join the Sydney Roosters, noting that he only solidified his choice two weeks ago following a tumultuous departure from Manly. The former Sea Eagles captain expressed mixed feelings about joining another team.
"Individually, very uncomfortable in being in another club's colours, but deep down really satisfied with the decision," Cherry-Evans remarked. He is looking forward to the opportunities for personal development that await him in the upcoming season. "I just know how much personal growth is going to be ahead of me this year," he added. "There's a lot to be excited about."
During his final season at Manly, Cherry-Evans contemplated retirement amid ongoing speculation regarding his future. His decision to sign a one-year contract with the Roosters was influenced by various factors, rather than being driven by a single reason. "At different stages it was both (options that I was considering)," he said, reflecting on his thought process as he approaches his 37th birthday in February.
