Westpac NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley has indicated that the uncertain status of winger Brian To'o due to a knee injury played a significant role in selecting Jacob Kiraz as the 18th man for the upcoming State of Origin decider.
Reports from nrl.com.au reveal that To'o sustained the injury during Penrith's recent match against Kiraz's Bulldogs.
Although scans confirmed that the injury isn't serious, To'o will have limited training leading up to the game at Accor Stadium on Wednesday.
He will be given time to demonstrate his fitness, with a crucial assessment expected by Saturday.
Daley recalled that Kiraz was brought into camp for a training session before Game Two when To'o was contending with a hamstring issue, although To'o was later able to play for his club.
According to NRL regulations, the 18th man remains with the team for the entire week, while others outside the main squad can return to their clubs for regular play.
With To'o likely unable to practice until Saturday at the earliest, Daley emphasized the importance of Kiraz dedicating the full 10 days of preparation ahead of the crucial match for the Blues.
