Cronulla's Trindall wins Dally M five-eighth award

Sharks try assist champ takes out five-eighth of the year

Nathan Cleary finished atop the men's Dally M standings with 67 points, 14 clear of Braydon Trindall at the awards ceremony in Barangaroo.

Trindall scored 53 points, ahead of Cleary's Penrith teammate Dylan Edwards on 52, and was named five-eighth of the year.

The Cronulla player also set a club record with 33 try assists in a season, helping the Sharks reach the semi-finals.

He said, "Congratulations to Nathan (Cleary) and Tamika (Upton) on their wins, and good luck to all the teams playing this weekend."

In the women's voting, Brisbane's Tamika Upton won with 31 points, ahead of Wests Tigers' Raecene McGregor on 29.

Upton polled six points in the penultimate round and one in Round 11.

Other major honours included Cleary's Dally M Medal, Andrew Webster's men's Coach of the Year award and Karyn Murphy's women's Coach of the Year award.
