MRC Issues Unique Fine Following Queensland Derby
In the aftermath of Thursday's 30-8 triumph against the Gold Coast Titans, North Queensland Cowboys captain Reuben Cotter is the sole player facing disciplinary action.
Cotter has been charged with a Grade 1 careless high tackle involving Titans fullback Jayden Campbell during the crucial win at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
The Cowboys' captain has the option to accept an early guilty plea, which would result in a $1000 fine, or contest the charge at the judiciary, risking an additional $500 penalty if found guilty.
This charge follows Cotter's significant contribution to his team's much-needed victory after they suffered a record 82-12 defeat against the Sydney Roosters the week before, demonstrating his leadership in the process.
On the other hand, Titans forward Cooper Bai was fortunate to avoid any penalties despite being placed on report for a dangerous tackle during the match, as the MRC decided against further action.
The match also saw Cowboys winger Jaxon Purdue spend 10 minutes in the sin bin for infringing by holding onto a tackle too long on AJ Brimson, disrupting a potential try-scoring opportunity.
