Controversial Decision Overshadows Broncos Loss

Brisbane Broncos head coach Michael Maguire expressed his confusion regarding the decision that led star fullback Reece Walsh to exit the game for a Head Injury Assessment (HIA).

The incident involving Warriors prop Mitchell Barnett went largely unnoticed by fans and even failed to result in a penalty for the Broncos.

Nevertheless, an independent doctor determined that Walsh had to leave the field in the 63rd minute during his team's 42-12 defeat at Magic Round.

Even though the match was already slipping from the Broncos' grasp, Walsh was off the field for 15 minutes and successfully returned following his HIA.

This situation proved disruptive for the Brisbane side, especially considering the contact was overlooked by the Nine broadcasters.

"That was strange," Maguire remarked during his post-game press conference.

"I mean, how do you not get a penalty when you've got to go off? He got hit in the head."

"The game's put a lot of good things in place around that at the moment."

When asked if he would address the incident with NRL executives for further clarity on the decision to remove Walsh, Maguire confirmed, "Yeah."

The timing of the Broncos' match coincided with the selections for the QLD Maroons Origin team, which ultimately did not include Walsh.
