Major concerns have arisen regarding Manly Sea Eagles star Luke Brooks following a suspected ACL injury during a significant victory at Brookvale against their rivals, Melbourne.
This talented halfback transitioned from the Wests Tigers to Manly ahead of the 2024 season and had not missed a single game since his debut in Las Vegas.
Brooks could not return to the field in the second half, having played over ten minutes while clearly in pain after the injury.
Young gun Joey Walsh, who recently signed an extension, stepped in for him, allowing Manly to secure a dominant 30-4 victory.
Fox commentator Tiana Penitani-Gray provided insights during the second half, shedding light on the seriousness of the situation.
On-field assessments are typically reliable when it comes to ACL injuries, and Manly coach Kieran Foran has indicated that Brooks may be sidelined for the rest of the season.
"It's absolutely devastating for Luke," Foran remarked during his post-match press conference.
"We're all shattered for him; we'll obviously wait for confirmation, but they're pretty certain it is, which is gut-wrenching for us as a club, but more importantly Luke."
"We'll get around him; he's such a vital member to the footy club."
