Coaching Legend Urged to Prioritize Health

Ricky Stuart's Advice to Craig Bellamy Following Heartbreaking Diagnosis

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has shared heartfelt advice with Craig Bellamy in light of his recent diagnosis of a neurological degenerative disorder.

The Melbourne Storm issued a statement confirming the diagnosis but provided little detail, assuring fans that Bellamy's coaching abilities would not be affected for now and requested privacy for the coach and his family.

The rugby league community was left reeling from the news, especially considering Bellamy's remarkable 24-season tenure with the Storm, where he has achieved incredible success.

Stuart, a close friend and fellow coach, emphasized the importance of self-care for Bellamy during this challenging time.

"I know he's getting very good advice (and has) good people around him," Stuart remarked to reporters.

"He's got a beautiful family, so it's now time for Craig to really care about Craig and put himself first."

Despite their current struggles, with six consecutive losses, the Storm remains steadfast in their support for Bellamy as head coach.

Melbourne chairman Matt Tripp reassured fans that there are no plans to alter Bellamy's role, as specialists have indicated he can continue in his position.

After spending the previous five seasons on a 'season-by-season' agreement, Bellamy opted last year to extend his contract with the Storm for an additional two years, keeping him secured until the end of 2028.
