Canterbury Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo has strongly defended mid-season recruit Lachlan Galvin amid harsh criticism following the team's recent losses.
Reports indicate that after losing two consecutive matches against the Penrith Panthers and Brisbane Broncos, Galvin has become a focal point for critics who attribute the Bulldogs' struggles to him.
In the four matches since Galvin's arrival, the Bulldogs have altered their lineup significantly, with Toby Sexton frequently shifting to the dummy-half role and Reed Mahoney departing the field.
Matt Burton was even shifted to the centres in the last match.
Although Galvin has not been the primary reason for the team's decline in performance, he has unfortunately become an easy target for critics.
Ciraldo acknowledged that while Galvin's performance could have been better in the previous week, he labeled the scrutiny surrounding him "unnecessary" and "even over the top to a certain degree."
