Sydney Roosters' head coach Trent Robinson has clarified that Daly Cherry-Evans has not confirmed his player option for 2027, leaving his playing future uncertain.
This week, reports emerged from Fanatics TV suggesting that the seasoned halfback was poised to extend his time with the Roosters before retiring.
When Cherry-Evans transitioned from the Manly Sea Eagles to the Roosters at the beginning of this year, only one season was assured, with an option for 2027 believed to favor the player.
While it seemed earlier this week that Cherry-Evans might continue on, Robinson dialed back those notions during a media briefing today.
"No, that wasn't true," Robinson stated.
"It doesn't mean they (discussion) won't (happen), but they just haven't happened yet."
Cherry-Evans has been performing well in the five-eighth position this year, helping the Roosters secure a spot in the top four as they aim for success in September.
"He's going really well and he certainly defies his age, that's for sure, so some good footy to still get played," Robinson remarked.
"He's flying and I'm really loving the way he's going but none of those discussions (playing on) have happened yet."
