Josh Charnley, the winger for Leigh Leopards, has expressed his desire to finish his rugby league career with Wigan Warriors while aiming for the all-time Super League try record.
After scoring his 250th and 251st tries in a recent match against Hull KR, he now sits nine tries behind record-holder Ryan Hall.
The 34-year-old returned to first-team action after recovering from a knee injury that required surgery, which sidelined him earlier in the season due to an injury to teammate Darnell McIntosh.
In an episode of Sky Sports' The Bench with Jenna and Jon podcast, Charnley stated, "I just want to stay in Super League.
I've had in my goals for five years that I want to be the top try scorer in Super League and I'm pretty close to that." Reflecting on his current situation, he mentioned, "I've not played many games this year and I've not been in the shop window.
I will go anywhere.
I'm not fussed about travelling.
I need game time and I still think I've got two years in me."
Charnley began his professional career at Wigan Warriors, where he achieved significant success, winning two Grand Finals and becoming the league's top scorer twice.
His ambition to be the top try scorer in the league drives him as he looks to the future, hoping to make an impact during the remaining years of his career.
