The NRL has showcased remarkable talents on its grand stages in 2025.

From standout performances in Origin matches to decisive plays, the league's skill level is arguably at its zenith.

While individual skill often garners attention, attributes like leadership and honor are crucial for contending teams and serve as the foundation for any successful squad.

The NRL annually recognizes these qualities through the Dennis Tutty Award, which this year has been awarded to the retiring Sydney Roosters halfback, Chad Townsend.

According to the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA), the award is given to individuals who exhibit leadership both on and off the field, demonstrate a commitment to their teammates, advocate for the rights of players, and show dedication to rugby league.

This week, Townsend was honored for his exceptional leadership both on the pitch and in the community, with Clint Newton OAM, CEO of the RLPA and Managing Director on the Board, commending the NRL icon.

"On behalf of the RLPA and Board, I would like to congratulate Chad Townsend on his Dennis Tutty Award," said Newton.
