Canterbury has extended Alekolasimi Jones's contract through the end of 2029 after his rapid emergence in the NRL squad.
The forward, known as 'AJ', was named the Bulldogs' 2026 Rookie of the Year after progressing through the club's pathways system.
Jones debuted in Round 9 against the North Queensland Cowboys and made five further appearances during the season.
He came off the bench in every match and delivered a 95.6 per cent tackle efficiency.
His defensive reliability and versatility have encouraged Canterbury to secure his future before rival clubs could approach him.
Jones had signed a one-year extension in June, which placed him in the Bulldogs' Top 30 squad for 2027.
Under that agreement, he would have been free to negotiate with other clubs from November 1.
However, Jones made another four NRL appearances after signing that deal, strengthening the club's belief in his long-term potential.
The latest agreement marks a swift progression from the Bulldogs' pathways system to an NRL contract and a permanent place in Canterbury's plans.
