The Queensland legend, Cameron Smith, has issued a rallying cry to his Maroons ahead of the State of Origin decider, urging them to get tough and play dirty if necessary to combat the dominant NSW forward pack.
After being bullied in Game 2 at the MCG, Smith believes Queensland need to push the boundaries and employ some dodgy tactics to ensure they don't get pushed around again at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.
Drawing on historical Rugby League references, Smith emphasized the importance of being physical and aggressive in such high-stakes games.
"You look back over the last however long you want to look back at the game of rugby league, there's been no team that has gone on to win a big game like this one tomorrow night without pushing the boundaries of the rules," he asserted.
In true sporting cliché fashion, Smith called on Queensland to run like they've been shot out of a cannon, return the ball like they want to run over someone, and make a strong impact for their team.
He encouraged them to set the tone early, whether by receiving or kicking off, and send a clear message to the opposition, the referees, and the crowd about their intentions for the match.
With a hint of Australian slang and plenty of sporting analogies, Smith's call to arms is clear: the Maroons must be willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top in the State of Origin decider and not be afraid to play on the edge to secure victory.
